Public Notice – Ragland v. Ragland (EBR Family Court)

Today I was informed by the Family Court Administrator that the upcoming status conference in my case (F209479 Ragland v. Ragland), scheduled for Friday, September 26, 2025 at 10:30 a.m., will not be posted on Clerk Connect, the online filing and docket system, until after it is completed.

This is a significant departure from customary practice. In the past, status conferences have appeared on Clerk Connect at the time they were scheduled, allowing both parties and the public to verify upcoming hearings. For example, the only reason I knew about the June 25, 2025 status conference was because an acquaintance happened to see it listed on Clerk Connect. I was not notified directly, and I raised this issue in open court.

Because of these inconsistencies, and my past experience with court proceedings being hidden from the public, I do not feel safe when hearings in my case are not reflected on the docket. Secret or unposted hearings undermine transparency, due process, and the public’s right of access to court proceedings.

To protect the integrity of the record and ensure accountability, I am making this notice public. The status conference on September 26, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. is scheduled to proceed in East Baton Rouge Family Court, Division B.

Transparency in our courts is not optional.
