On Episode 144 of the Guest Speaker Series, we welcome artist & producer, Ishan, to the show! Ishan has been steadily on the rise in MA & beyond showcasing immaculate wordplay, and production that has reached a national level, in particular on Termanology & Paul Wall’s “Do It For the Ghetto” featuring Big K.R.I.T.

Ishan takes plenty of time on this episode paying homage to his parents who instilled a high-level work ethic in him at a young age, and his management and creative team who have helped to bring that work ethic to life in his music.

Ishan also talks at length about his new project ‘SMOKEBREAK’ which saw many different iterations before its release. While it’s only a short EP, this features some of his best work to date, with hard-hitting production and effortless bars.

Mike & Ishan also discuss a variety of other topics, including Ishan’s work as a cancer-research scientist, his extensive experience traveling the world, and so much more.

On Episode 143 of the Guest Speaker series, we welcome Connecticut’s very own 4KPHIL. to the show! 4KPHIL. is a hip-hop artist who’s steadily been making a name for himself in New England and beyond, including his track “Young Picasso” (produced by soupy2k) being featured on NBA2K22, as well as single “Truancy” found its way on multiple editorial playlists and has amassed over half a million streams on Spotify alone.

4KPHIL. sits down with Mike to have one of the most candid conversations the podcast has seen so far this year. 4KPHIL. shares a deeply personal story about being the victim of gun violence, one that he has seldom shared publicly before. Ultimately that experience shifted his life forever as he completely put all of his efforts into music from there on out, and has never looked back. From there, 4KPHIL. & Mike have an open and honest conversation about their views regarding gun violence in America in general.

The guys also touch on some lighter topics, including 4KPHIL. becoming a father and the impact his son has on his life and music career, as well as the collective of artists and creatives based in Minnesota known as Paperjack Productions whom he has formed an important bond with. They also discuss some of 4KPHIL’s experiences in Minnesota which include his favorite spots on Eat Street, riding a mechanical bull at the Mall of America, his strong stance on Drake as an artist, and so much more.
