This week's classic is based on a grounded house groove that characterizes the track through progressive changes in tone and atmosphere. Steve Bug's remix of Francis Harris' “Pensum” appeared on Leland Remixes Vol. 2 and is still as sharp as it was when it was released. The song is rich in detail and remains a highlight of this era, a track that still retains meaning to this day. Another favorite that has more than earned its place in our “Classic of the Week” selection.

Francis Harris - Living Lips (Kate Simko Remix)

Kate Simko's remix of “Living Lips” flows with a smooth consistency, each chord casting a gentle glow while the low end circles beneath. The piano fits harmoniously into the mix, giving the track its calm center. The track was released in 2012, as part of “Leland Remixes Volume 1” and still projects a natural warmth that fills the room.

A timeless gem that definitely deserves its spot in our Classic of the week selection.

the output of Frank & Tony / Scissor & Thread has been at the core of my ambient and deep house listening since i first started collecting records and i am still in shock to be welcomed onto their catalogue. to be having a cultural exchange with the house music of new york means a lot to me as the sounds my ears lean into certainly draw from the US, where i briefly went to school and have since spent a decent amount of time.

Desert Sound Colony - Iris

Desert Sound Colony brilliantly scores a nostalgic journey through the proverbial looking glass. „Iris“ carries us further inward with scattered claps and a skipping kick, before releasing us into a deep, chugging, eyes wide shut, euphoric roller.

The melodies feel soft edged and clear. The rhythm carries weight, guiding everything into a beautiful shape. The track settles in slowly and once it does, it stays with you. Still one of the most immersive cuts in Desert Sound Colony’s early work, and clearly part of must adds in our Classic of the week selection.

DaRand Land - Souls Awash moves with a laidback yet dynamic motion. The bassline coils beneath the surface, steering a rhythmic current that feels grounded and alive. Pads rise and fade in slow motion, while flickers of detail hover at the edge of perception. The groove draws you in layer by layer, unfolding with quiet certainty.

Released on the Discover You EP via Scissor & Thread in 2016, it remains one of Land’s most immersive cutsatmospheric, physical, and finely tuned. A standout track and perfect addition to our Classic of the week selection

Frank & Tony returned in 2022 with Dream Vibration, their first release together since Odes in 2017. Among its key moments was “Stretch Out Like The World,” a track that moved with restraint and focus, built around atmosphere and ambience.

The instrumental mix, created by New York house pioneer Timmy Regisford, provided a strong sense of focus.
With nearly four decades of experience, his interpretation emphasized structure and flow, anchoring the original in a moving, warm, organic groove.

An essential entry in the Scissor & Thread catalog, and an easy choice for the Classic of the week selection.

Black Light Smoke transforms Poppa's Bag into something intimate and slow burning. The Sunset Mix opens up the original’s space and guides it into a warmer, nuanced dimensions.

A band name that hints at the dancefloor but steps far outside it. Glory Club is what happens when Anthony Collins and Jordan Lieb (black light smoke) flip the script and let pop instincts lead the way.

“1000 Words” with Dominique Star’s unmistakable voice at its center, sits somewhere between soft neon glow and crisp morning air. The production leans retro in tone but still feels timeless. Loops and sounds from their 2012 sessions weave around the sharp lyricism and Dominique Star’s delivery, balancing warmth and clarity. This one earns its spot in the Classic of the Week without breaking a sweat.

Black Light Smoke - Decisions featuring Suavecito
"Decisions" has a crooked line running through it and highlights the mark that Black Light Smoke burned into Scissor & Thread's DNA from the very beginning. Released in November 2011, the album sketches the label's warped, smoke shrouded house with a grin. Suavecito's voice drifts through synths. Shadowy house at its finest: warm kicks, dusty hats, a lowend that takes you by the hand. The edges remain rough and the groove does its own kind of work.

A secret of the finest hours that still ignites when the room goes dark. Another gem crowned as our Classic of the week

Rosas Nievas - Every Inch Of You (Frank & Tony’s Breakaway Remix)
Frank & Tony approached this remix like architects of mood. Every element is placed with care. The track stretches out patiently, letting chords, rhythm, and voice move without pressure.
