High Frequency Press

High Frequency Press High Frequency is our response to a changing marketplace. Forward motion is necessary. New books! Larger presses are becoming celebrity-driven conglomerates.

A NOTE FROM HIGH FREQUENCY

High Frequency is a new press established by The New Guard and The Writer's Hotel. Our over 20+ years of industry experience will allow High Frequency to be well-perched within the market we envision. We will publish only the highest quality work—work we believe in wholeheartedly—work that bucks the new norm. We created The New Guard and The Writer’s Hotel as good liter

ary citizens, to serve writers and dig deep into writing craft. Writing shapes culture. High Frequency will publish a handful of outstanding and overlooked books in the next few years, including some of our own original work. And we’ll be running full-length manuscript contests: The Skywave Fiction Contest and The Morse Code Poetry Contest. Skywave winners will be published by HF and receive 25 copies and publication plus film and television agent referrals. Morse Code winners will also be published by HF and receive 25 copies; in lieu of agents, they will also get 15 poems published in our e-zine. We anticipate that High Frequency will publish The New Guard, but we will be taking a short hiatus for now as we focus on building the press. TNG is part of the inspiration for HF, and we have loved working with TNG writers for over a decade. Stay tuned for our upcoming HF Light Speed E-Zines, which will feature a single short story, both printed and read, with a few extra treats included. Also coming soon: our interactive and collaborative literary world map, HF’s LitWorld.

::For now, we are not accepting unsolicited submissions to our press. But our fiction and poetry contests will be in full swing until June 8!::

"Anecdotes" by Baron Wormser

A moment from a life--a husband holding up
A tee-shirt for cursory inspection;
A child trudging home from a dull school day;
A tree in heavy wind--when placed within

The careful rails of verse acquires the dear,
Facile pout of meaning. It's a feeling
Rather than a faith since faith knows
Its way beforehand, while this telling us

A seeking. We read under the beneficence
Of a minor spell. Even the pain comforts:
Any life does; any avenue counts.
The man recalls a Sunday softball game;
The child stops at a puddle and peers into
Gorgeous nothingness; the tree falls or doesn't.
