The Central Ohio Symphony performs Symphony @ Whimsy on Saturday, Aug. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Whimsy Venue in Delaware’s Boardman Arts Park.

The Central Ohio Symphony is pulling out the hits and putting on the whimsy in a concert expected to attract an audience of more than 1,000.

Did you see conductor Gustavo Dudamel during the first-ever World Cup halftime show? He led his two orchestras, the New York Philharmonic (where he will start as artistic and music director this September) and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela.

With President Trump in attendance, an all-superstar lineup that included Madonna, BTS, Justin Bieber and Burna Boy felt a little more political than it might have otherwise.

There have been Black composers and Black storylines in opera, but they've often failed to gain traction with performing companies and audiences. This summer, Cincinnati Opera seeks to change that.

There aren't a lot of well-known operas celebrating the richness of the Black American experience. The Black Opera Project from Cincinnati Opera is looking to change that.
