Friends Dave Davis and Jorge Delgado were on a double date with their wives when an unexpected moment changed the course of their lives. Jorge’s wife, Amy, wasn’t a fan of West Coast IPAs, and when the group arrived at a taproom that offered little else, she was ready to leave almost immediately.

For Dave and Jorge, who had already begun brewing beer as a hobby, the experience sparked an idea. They set out to create a light, easy-drinking beer that anyone could enjoy. After countless batches and refinements, that beer became the foundation of Hermosa Brewing Company. 🍺

The brewery’s guiding philosophy soon followed: “Craft Beer for the Beach.”

“I didn’t want somebody to walk in and be like: This is a cold new-build,” says homeowner Natalie Lee. “Richard really likes modern and I lean more traditional, so Bianca Ecklund’s challenge was to marry the two styles. I love blues and neutral tones, and I wanted it to feel lived-in. We also wanted something that would be kid-friendly, where the girls’ friends could come over and feel like they could just plop down on the sofa and run out to the yard. It’s not a fussy house; it’s a family house.”
