ALFA | Aldine ISD Sports House of Legend | Spring Westfield Caught in the Shakeup
How will this move affect 14-6a with Aldine schools in it?
"Crosby, meanwhile, just narrowly made the cut for 6A after also competing in 5A for several years. The school turned in an enrollment number of 2,217, just two students above the cutoff line. Both Barbers Hill and Crosby had been competing in 5A Division I for football during the last two seasons. Crosby had major success in 5A Division II football, reaching the 2020 state championship game. Barbers Hill, meanwhile, just had one of its most successful seasons in program history with a regional final run l in Division I.
"While those two schools moved up one classification, one notable football program is moving down. Westfield, with an enrollment of 2,145, will be dropping to 5A and competing in Division I for football, barring an opt-up to play in 6A with Spring ISD contemporaries Spring and Dekaney.
"Westfield has been one of the most successful football programs in Houston over the past two decades while competing in the state’s highest classification. Westfield’s enrollment has dropped significantly in recent years. The school had 3,253 students for the 2022-24 realignment and 2,305.5 for the 2024-26 realignment."
