Founded in 2019 by artist , The Desert Door is a Rest + Resilience residency in Joshua Tree Village that supports interdisciplinary artists by easing the economic burden of making new work and offering a chance to germinate ideas, work thoughtfully, and get off the treadmill. Conceived as a small investment in cultural infrastructure and an alternative model of support, it is not a production residency. There are no required outcomes and no pressure to deliver a finished work, only time, quiet, and a well held place to recover attention, rebuild capacity, and reconnect to practice on human terms, with access to a dedicated studio with a sprung floor. Preference is given to artists who engage with dance or embodied practice in some way. Artwork image

Film production is so 2015! It’s been 8 years since Shimmy Boyle and I started Safety Third, with a mission to uplift movement through digital media content. After the last several years of researching emergent technologies in interactive media, traditional film production no longer feels as relevant to the contemporary zeitgeist.
That’s why we’re excited to announce that we’re pivoting our business to focus primarily on real-time interactive media design! Our goal is to partner with global brands, institutions and to collaborate with artists to create unique immersive experiences that combine large scale media and new technologies with choreographic thinking, evoking exhilaration and wonder.
