It's weekend and we will be rooting for our engineer Lester Mendoza who is up for a Grammy this Sunday for his recording work at Skip Saylor Recording on Beyonce's "Lemonade" album that is up for Album of the Year (as well as several other categories). We are very heartbroken to learn of he passing of studio design legend Vincent Van Haaff. He was instrumental in the acoustic design of our Hollywood area studio and so many other iconic recording studios in this town. Here is a photo of him from NAMM in January where we last last him. We will miss you very much, Vincent! RIP.

Fantasic mix session this weekend at the studio! Skip and Ian mixed the Julian Lennon featured Meninos do Morumbi & Friends single "Summertime" (cover of the classic song) for the Music Is Hope Foundation. Meninos do Morumbi is a São Paulo, Brazil, youth organization, which was founded15 years ago by drummer Flávio Pimenta to give kids an alternative to “street life” by teaching them drums. Starting with three kids, Meninos has evolved into an organization that, in addition to drums, teaches dance, singing, English, Capoeira, and provides lunch to 2000 children. In the "Summertime" recording, kids who are part of the program can be heard providing percussive elements to the track! Wild Heart

Mindi Abair's fantastic new record "Wild Heart" is out now! We were pleased to have Mindi and Booker T. in the studio for the recording of "Addicted to You" from the album. Upon release, it went straight to #1 at iTunes in the Jazz genre and it's currently #2 in Jazz over at Amazon as well. Congrats, Mindi!

Booker T | Sound The Alarm EPK

We're excited to announce the new Booker T record "Sound The Alarm" on Stax/Concord will be released June 25! Here is an EPK teaser which includes lots of shots of our studio. The soulful Blues song "Your Love Is No Love" feat. Vintage Trouble was recorded by Skip Saylor and his assistant Lester Mendoza at our studio.
