The Spook Who Sat by the Door, directed by Ivan Dixon in 1973, was so revolutionary that it was pulled from theaters three days before it opened.

I did a deep dive into this film back in 2011 or 2012 while hosting Black Classic Film Series and believe it is a very important part of film history and black storytelling that should not be missed.

I’ve got my ticket for the world premiere of the 4k restoration this Friday, 8/16 at BAM and would love to see this with my fellow cinephiles.

We lost a couple of days ago and since then, I have been thinking about the work he's left behind: A Soldier's Story, The Hurricane, The Cincinnati Kid, Fiddler on the Roof...but when I think about In the Heat of the Night I get chills. What it must've been like to be black in America in 1967 and see this on screen. Watch the man in the back. Doing some research to find out who he is.

This is Dr. Antoinette "Bonnie" Candia-Bailey who took her own life earlier this week. The bullying and mistreatment she endured at the hands of of a "colleague" caused her so much stress that she saw this as her only resort. We will never really know what other stressors were happening in her life.

This is one of the reasons why the work Andrea Morehead is doing to put an end to workplace bullying is so important. She is working to pass legislation to make this type of behavior a crime and it is long overdue. Please check out her work at YouTube at: www.youtube.com/Mysilenceisnotforsale

The Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival & Lecture Series is the first black, Brooklyn-based festival devoted to supporting films produced, directed and written by women of color. BURY THE HATCHET - Tuesday, March 28th at 8pm EST)! I am EP and AD on this one!

This court show will bring two warring parties together to help them settle their beef. Hosted by Atlanta lawyer and influencer Cristyl Kimbrough serving as the judge, TV Personality Jessica Murphy serving as the court narrator and comedians Kelly Kellz, Henry Coleman and Angel Starks as the jury, directed by Warren D. Robinson. The two groups will present their cases and the judge and jury will help them bury the hatchet.

Production Assistant
Looking for a few Atlanta based production assistants (local only). This is a fast-paced job. Looking for candidates that are comfortable thinking on their feet, going with the flow and helping to problem-solve as necessary. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with valid proof of insurance. Responsibilities include: Picking up equipment and meals as necessary; Assisting producers with obtaining releases, scanning material, general office duties, etc; going on runs; arts and crafts; helping with gear; moving set furniture; office/kitchen cleaning; restocking crafty; other tasks as assigned. Position starts late January (Approximately 4 Days).

Photographer/Videographer
We are currently seeking a local Atlanta based behind-the –scenes still photographer (with some video skills) to provide fly-on-the –wall, social media, promotional and general photography. Should be prepared to do minor fly-on-the-wall and social media behind the scenes video work as well. Must be creative and independent at accurately determining which shots are needed and must be able to work with little to no direction. Slight photo retouching and editing as necessary. Responsibilities include: Creating a shot list; able to take candid/fly-on–the-wall photos in a quiet and unobtrusive manor; ability to read the room and determine what shots to take; able to suggest to talent and crew, photo opportunities (when appropriate); create unique photos/videos for social media and promotions.
