Our Story

A continuous theme of Time Warp will be New York City between the late 1960s and the current year / age. Additional themes mixed in will include: ecology, environmental ethics, politics, humor, artists and genuine creative people, punk & rock ‘n roll, activism, and RESISTING: conformity, gentrification, and more. While honoring the past, we aim to break through the paralyzing nostalgia for the old city. The condition of our gentrifying city will not improve if we let ourselves wallow in sadness, self pity, and nostalgia. We encourage and hopefully inspire people to take action in any way(s) they see fit. On a wider level, this applies to the crisis facing the natural world. Climate change, destruction of wilderness, extinction, habitat loss, invasive species.... We are steadily working to connect these seemingly unrelated themes. NYC is a microcosm of the world at large! NYC itself is an ecosystem! Start by getting angry. Anger sparks creative response and change. Sadness and nostalgia leads to resigning yourself to the situation and not doing anything to help change the current trends. "Someone should do something!" You ARE someone and you CAN do something... Just use your imagination. It is NEVER too late. "Let's do the time warp again..."
