In 2016, founded by TeRra Han, Korean gayageum virtuoso, the online service launched first in Tokyo 2017 Feb. TeRra Magazine is the first, world premiere magazine covering with the Eastern art and culture geographically from South Asia to Northeast Asia such as India Cambodia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Taiwan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, Korea, and Japan and to all over the world.
TeRra Han (한테라, 韓泰來) is widely recognized Korean kayageum virtuoso based in New York City, USA. Ms. Han was a child prodigy and was performing by age 8. She started music with piano at age 4 and began her training in traditional Korean music and performing arts, including singing and dancing, at the age of 6. In addition, Ms. Han has trained other Asian zither traditions including the Japanese koto, the Chinese zheng, and North Korea’s music represented in China and Indian Sitar.
Ms. Han has received numerous awards and fellowships, including the Korean National Commission for UNESCO and Blanchette Rockefeller Foundation, the Asian Cultural Council in New York. She also serves as an honorary ambassador of the Korean Center for International Affairs, member of the Korean Zither’s Association, and member of Asian Musicology. Ms. Han holds B.A. and M.A. degrees from Seoul National University. She has released more than 10 solo albums of Asian authentic classical music and numerous chamber and orchestra recordings. She is called ‘ Living work of art‘ for her combined brilliant artistry.
Sep. 29th. 2015, TeRra had debut stage at the Carenegie Hall in New York as the youngest Korean traditional musicians of a few who ever had a recital at the Carnegie hall. April, 2016, TeRra Han was admitted voting member of the Grammy Awards* 📷as a few Asian musicians by The Recording Academy in the United States.
Through this extraordinary musical careers of her as a foremost international Asian musician, she realized by herself the lack of platforms containing Asian arts and cultures despite of increase demands of people interest in the world, as well as, it is necessary to connect Asian artists, especially traditional genres and expand gateways for their activities to the world widely. From its inception and her experience as being a writer of Journal of Seoul National University during her college student, Startup & Business Journal of Korea and a member of Asian American Journalist Association of the United States, she had determined to publish a magazine fundamentally based on Eastern arts and styles by herself and founded the TeRra magazine in Dec. 2016 in Seoul. The magazine started online service first in Tokyo, February 2017. It is monthly digital magazine published every 30th. The magazine concerns with Asian arts with coverage of culture, styles, trend, people and social affairs targeted the millennial cultural elites based in New York City.
Before launching the magazine in the preliminary steps, Han created a Facebook group ‘New York, Asian Classical Musicians Network by TeRra‘, her account was blasted out because of breakthrough the 10,000 group members gathered merely in 2 weeks in August 2016.
