KC From Above 🎡

During our Kansas trip, we got to ride the KC Wheel and see our city from a whole new view. It was such a fun experience, especially getting to share it with Grandma and his little uncle.

I definitely wish we would’ve gone at night because I can only imagine how beautiful all the lights are from up there, but that just gives us a reason to come back next time! There’s something extra special about bringing him back to the places we grew up around and making new memories together.

Full Circle ⭕️

We’re spending a whole week in Kansas with Vasu’s auntie and cousins, right where his Dada and Mama grew up. It feels so good to take a little break from therapy, appointments, and all the hard work and just let him be a kid.

Today we took him to Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, a place I used to come to when I was a kid, and watching him experience it with his cousins was such a full-circle moment.

Of course, Vasu had to pet the baby goats in his own special Vasu way… while the goats were more interested in trying to nibble his clothes 😂 Apparently we brought Vasu to the farm dressed as a snack.

Sometimes the best therapy is just being a kid, making memories, and getting your shirt eaten by a baby goat. 😂

Goat Chaos 🩶🐐

Vasu met some baby goats today and of course he had to pet them in his own special Vasu way. Meanwhile, the goats decided petting wasn’t enough and started trying to nibble his clothes like he was their afternoon snack. Safe to say everyone was VERY interested in each other 😂

Look At Him Go 🥹💧

Pool therapy was over, and our little warrior walked himself right out. Up the slope, holding onto the rail, and taking each step at his own pace. Something so simple to most, but something we once could only dream of. Every step toward independence will always be worth celebrating.

Our Little Water Bug 💙

We tried a new swimsuit today, and I think our little water bug LOVED it! It gave him so much more freedom to move, kick, and explore the water. We still had to stay close and keep our hands right there, but I know the day is coming when we’ll be able to let go and watch him swim on his own. One step closer every single session.

Back to Therapy 🗣️💙

Sadly, we had to cancel therapy Thursday and Friday after Vasu got sick, and then Dada and Mama got sick too. We’re all still recovering, but thankfully we were feeling good enough to get back to therapy today.

In speech therapy, Vasu worked on taking turns with his therapist, even taking turns screaming into the fan and listening to how their voices changed. Something so simple and fun gave him a chance to practice waiting, listening, communicating, and understanding when it was his turn. It felt so good to see him back to learning and having fun again.

Brave Enough 💚🦁

Today, Vasu was brave enough to attempt going down the stairs all by himself with no help. Something that may seem so small to others took so much courage, confidence, balance, and strength for him. Watching him trust his own body enough to try made us so proud. One step at a time.

Sorry we’ve been a little MIA lately. 💙

We’ve had a lot happening behind the scenes between selling our house, getting readjusted to therapies in Pittsburgh, family life, and simply trying to keep up with adulting.

Sometimes life gets heavy and you have to put the phone down and focus on what’s right in front of you. But we’re back, we’re okay, and we’re so thankful for everyone who noticed our absence and reached out to check on us.

Whether they’re in the warm therapy pool or working hard in the spider cage, one thing never changes… Ms. Kylie is Vasu’s safe place. 🤍

She creates an environment where he feels secure enough to take on new challenges, push through the hard moments, and celebrate every victory. Watching the trust they’ve built together is one of the greatest gifts as a parent. Thank you, Ms. Kylie, for being such a special part of Vasu’s journey.

Thank goodness Amari is feeling better. We missed our weekly playdates more than we can say, and today was exactly what our hearts needed.

I’m so grateful our boys were happy and content, giving us the chance to get our steps in, catch our breath, and have the kind of conversations only another medical mama truly understands.

If you’re a mama, and especially a medical mama, find your person. Find the one who celebrates every milestone that others might overlook, understands the fear behind every appointment, and reminds you that you’re never carrying this journey alone. These friendships aren’t just nice to have. They’re a lifeline. 💚
