We were the only media outlet to cover this cold case and our followers helped ID a previously unidentified victim.
We first posted about this case in September 2024, when Jane Doe (at the time) had been unidentified for over 2 months. Her body was found under a wooden pallet in an abandoned lot on the 4900 block of Griscom Street. Her body was badly decomposed and her pants had been removed to her ankles. Investigators had no leads so they posted photos of her jewelry on NamUs.
Our post got millions of views and tips were submitted. A source told us last year that she had been identified as Anastasiya Stangret and that Homicide Detectives were actively working the case. After that, the case went cold again and officials never officially publicly released any information on her identity.
Now, today, December 19th, the Philadelphia Police Department have officially released her name and are asking for the public's help in finding her killer. The police have provided video of Anastasiya walking in the area of Arrott & Penn in the several days leading up to her death. She is seen with several individuals, police did not comment on whether or not those have been interviewed but it seems like they intentionally blurred out their faces. Not too sure what this means.
The following is the press release from PPD:
