FLORIDA MAN ACCUSED OF HAVING DRUGS AND MORE THAN $2K IN STOLEN MERCHANDISE AFTER POLICE FIND HIM ASLEEP IN VEHICLE

A 28-year-old Florida man is facing charges after a Warrington Township police officer checking on a disabled vehicle allegedly found suspected drugs and more than $2,100 worth of stolen Best Buy merchandise.

Police say an officer encountered the vehicle blocking a travel lane near Valley Square Boulevard and Alyssa Drive around 10:46 p.m. on Aug. 5.

When the officer approached, Israel Fortun of Miami was allegedly asleep and reclined behind the wheel with his pants below his knees and his ge****ls exposed. The vehicle was not running.

After being awakened, Fortun reportedly told the officer he had struck a curb, damaged a tire and was waiting for a tow truck.

During the investigation, police say the officer spotted a clear plastic bag containing a suspected rock-like controlled substance along with two glass pipes containing burnt residue.

Officers also allegedly discovered $2,139.92 worth of merchandise that had been reported stolen from Best Buy the previous day.

Fortun was charged with felony receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said he was processed and released.

The charges are allegations, and Fortun is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

MAYFAIR MAN SENTENCED TO 7 TO 20 YEARS FOR KILLING NEIGHBOR

A 66-year-old Philadelphia man has been sentenced to seven to 20 years in prison for fatally shooting his neighbor following an ongoing dispute in Mayfair.

William Pulver pleaded guilty last November to third-degree murder and fi****ms offenses in the June 2024 death of 65-year-old Patricia Shinn.

Prosecutors said Pulver shot Shinn multiple times in the back near their homes on Montague Street near Princeton Avenue.

During an emotional sentencing hearing, Shinn’s family remembered her as a loving and generous mother, wife and sister who had survived a years-long battle with breast cancer.

Her son told the court that Shinn loved animals, children and Philadelphia sports, while her sisters spoke about her devotion to her family.

Pulver’s attorney told the court that he struggled with significant mental health issues and addiction and was extremely remorseful for killing Shinn.

However, when given the opportunity to address Shinn’s family and the court himself, Pulver declined to speak or offer an apology.

He was sentenced to seven to 20 years in prison.

8 PHILADELPHIA JUVENILES ACCUSED IN OVERNIGHT BENSALEM CRIME SPREE

Eight juveniles from Philadelphia are facing charges after Bensalem Police say they were involved in an overnight burglary and a series of thefts from vehicles.

Police responded to the Starbucks at 3619 Horizon Boulevard around 3:19 a.m. Wednesday for a burglary in progress.

Officers arrived to find the drive-thru window smashed and the cash registers disturbed.

Police initially detained three male juveniles in the nearby Walmart parking lot and say they recovered merchandise taken from Starbucks.

With assistance from Upper Southampton Police, officers later located five additional male juveniles who had allegedly been seen running from the area.

Investigators say all eight were involved in the Starbucks burglary as well as multiple confirmed thefts from vehicles in a nearby neighborhood.

Police also suspect the group may be connected to additional attempted thefts around the Neshaminy Square Shopping Center and surrounding residential developments.

All eight juveniles were identified and released to their parents or guardians pending further investigation.

Police say they will face charges including burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, theft from a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, conspiracy, and loitering and prowling at night.

Investigators are asking residents and businesses in the area to review overnight surveillance footage. Anyone with information is asked to contact Bensalem Detective Shawn Smith at 215-633-3687.

The allegations have not been proven in court.

TRUMP COMMUTES ‘JOHNNY DOC’ DOUGHERTY’S 6-YEAR FEDERAL PRISON SENTENCE, ATTORNEY SAYS

Former Philadelphia labor leader John “Johnny Doc” Dougherty could be released from federal prison as soon as Friday after President Donald Trump commuted the remainder of his six-year sentence, according to Dougherty’s attorney.

Attorney George Bochetto said Trump signed the commutation Thursday afternoon. As of Thursday night, however, the Office of the Pardon Attorney’s public records had not yet been updated to reflect the action.

Dougherty, the former longtime leader of IBEW Local 98 and one of Philadelphia’s most influential labor figures, was sentenced in 2024 to six years in federal prison following convictions in separate bribery and embezzlement trials.

The development comes after Trump denied an earlier commutation request from Dougherty in July. It was not immediately clear what changed.

Dougherty had also repeatedly asked a federal judge to allow him to serve the remainder of his sentence on house arrest so he could care for his seriously ill wife, Cecilia. Those requests were denied, with the judge finding that Dougherty had not demonstrated he was the only person capable of providing adequate care. Prosecutors had also opposed his early release.

Bochetto said his discussions with White House officials focused heavily on Cecilia Dougherty’s worsening medical condition and his argument that her husband was needed at home to care for her.

The commutation does not erase Dougherty’s convictions. It reduces or ends the remaining prison punishment imposed for those convictions.

Dougherty’s attorney said he hopes the former Philadelphia power broker will walk out of the federal penitentiary in Lewisburg as soon as Friday.

ALLEGED PENN STATE CO***NE RING SUPPLIER RELEASED ON $250K BAIL AFTER CO-DEFENDANTS TESTIFY AGAINST HIM

Agostino Abbatiello, the former Penn State student accused of becoming a major co***ne supplier to students and fraternity members, has been released from jail after three of his co-defendants testified against him during a preliminary hearing.

Abbatiello, 24, had initially been denied bail and spent approximately two weeks behind bars. Prosecutors reportedly sought $5 million bail, but a judge instead set bail at $250,000. Abbatiello posted it and returned home with his family.

A judge nevertheless ordered Abbatiello to stand trial on all charges, including felony possession with intent to deliver co***ne and conspiracy.

One of the most significant witnesses was co-defendant Thomas Robinson, 23, who investigators say began cooperating following his 2024 arrest.

Robinson testified that he purchased co***ne from Abbatiello roughly 10 times, with the transactions eventually reaching as much as one kilogram of co***ne for $22,000.

According to Robinson, the co***ne was then ground down, repackaged into half-gram bags and typically sold for approximately $80 each.

Another co-defendant testified that some fraternity pledges were allegedly directed to help package co***ne for sale.

A third reportedly testified that Abbatiello flaunted the money he was making and gambled thousands of dollars at a time. A senior deputy attorney general alleged Abbatiello was making hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Prosecutors allege the trafficking organization operated from 2023 to 2024, with co***ne distributed from Penn State’s Delta Upsilon and Sigma Chi fraternity houses.

Fourteen people have been charged in the investigation, all but one of whom are current or former Penn State students.

Abbatiello’s attorney maintains that holding him without bail was unjustified, noting that Abbatiello is not accused of violence and voluntarily returned to Pennsylvania to surrender after learning of the charges.

His next court date is scheduled for Sept. 30.

Abbatiello and his co-defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

MAYFAIR MAN SENTENCED TO 7 TO 20 YEARS FOR FATALLY SHOOTING NEIGHBOR IN THE BACK

A 66-year-old Philadelphia man has been sentenced to seven to 20 years in prison for fatally shooting his neighbor following an ongoing dispute in Mayfair.

The Philadelphia Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating missing juvenile Angelica Jimenez-Medina.

Angelica is 15 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs approximately 115 pounds, and has a thin build, black hair, and black eyes. She was last seen by her guardian on August 31, 2026, at her residence on the 6600 block of Torresdale Avenue. She was wearing a light blue zip-up hoodie and light blue jeans.
