❗❗URGENT❗❗THEO's commitment date is THIS MONDAY, March 30th at 3pm. He is declining mentally in the shelter environment which is what happens to most dogs after they're at the shelter for an extended period of time! NOTE: The Animal Foundation will cover the cost of surgery (TPLO) in his right knee along with some post-op physical therapy once he is adopted or transferred. 😄🥎🏃‍♂️‍➡️ Theo (A1408507) is proof that a little setback won’t slow down a big personality. This happy, playful boy loves to be on the move! Whether he’s walking, sniffing every interesting scent, or breaking into a joyful little run around the yard, Theo makes the most of his time outside. He may have a cranial cruciate ligament injury in his right hind leg, but he’s currently receiving pain medication to keep him comfortable—and he absolutely does not let it dampen his spirit. His zest for life shines through in everything he does.

😄🥎🏃‍♂️‍➡️ Theo already knows how to “sit” on command and will happily show off his skills for balls, toys, or tasty treats. He’s a smart cookie who’s eager to engage and loves having a job to do. Playtime is his favorite—he’ll romp around with enthusiasm, and toward the end of a good yard session, you might find him blissfully settled down, chewing away on a squeaky ball like it’s the best day ever.

😄🥎🏃‍♂️‍➡️ Shelter life can feel a little overwhelming for Theo, and he doesn’t love being in his kennel—it’s a scary, noisy place for a good boy who deserves a good home. But get him outside into the fresh air and sunshine, and he transforms into all smiles. He thrives when he can explore, sniff, feel the sun on his face, and just be a dog.

I threw the stick once more, like we’d done a thousand times before.
She took off running, ears bouncing, that soft golden coat catching the light… my Labrador, Luna, living in the moment the way she always did.

Then… silence.

Not the peaceful kind.
The kind that tightens your chest.
The kind that makes your hands shake before your mind can even catch up.

Luna never came back.

One moment she was full of life—
the next, everything changed.

No warning.
No time to prepare.
Just a moment that split my world into before… and after.

People see a Labrador and think happy, easy, carefree.
They think fetch, wagging tails, endless energy.

But Luna?
She was so much more than that.

She was my comfort on the hardest days.
My shadow through every quiet moment.
The one who would rest her head on me like she understood everything I couldn’t say out loud.

And now she lies here… still, peaceful…
in this quiet space that feels far too small for a love that big.

I keep thinking she’ll open her eyes.
That she’ll get up, stretch, and walk back to me like nothing happened.

But she doesn’t.

Her leash is still by the door.
Her favorite spot still glows in the afternoon sun.
And this home… it feels heavier without her.

She wasn’t “just a dog.”
She was my safe place.
My constant.
My heart outside my body.

And somehow, even now…
I feel her.
