The moon earlier this morning was absolutely gorgeous, and clear conditions helped temperatures get pretty chilly. You may want a light jacket this morning as you're headed out the door!

Have you noticed a little haze in the sky? There are several wildfires burning out west, and the opposing flow of an upper-level high and low pressure system is strong upper-level winds for efficient smoke movement high up in the atmosphere.

The general track of smoke will be west-southwest to northeast. The most dense smoke through the weekend will be across northern Arkansas, points northeast through southeastern Missouri, and southern Illinois.

If you're panning to enjoy any local high school foot ball games this evening, it will be chilly, with overcast skies, and scattered light showers.

Overnight, a cold front will sweep through the region. While it won't initially bring any rainfall, moisture will linger behind it, and bring a chance for scattered light showers tomorrow afternoon. The best chance for showers will be along and northwest of I-44.

Cloudy to overcast skies will also keep temperatures WELL below normal for afternoon temperatures.

1:15 PM Labor Day Radar Update:

Showers are widely scattered to the west of Highway 65 and and gradually moving east. Expect light showers to move into Springfield in the next hour or two. Isolated to scattered showers will be possible through the remainder of the evening, but it won't be a washout. Additionally, there could be a few rumbles of thunder, but the instability is unimpressive.
