We always talk about how great our dock neighbors are, but we especially like these new furry ones. We may be a little biased as former parents. 😁

After almost 2 weeks, ‘s hand is much better, and we finished the charging station cabinet that originally caused the injury. We’re still doing little projects here and there, but really grateful that it wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been.

We were turning this end table into a charging station when the drill’s torque limiter was set too tight and dragged ‘s hand around the interior of the cabinet. His injuries are a bit too graphic to post but thankfully he didn’t break any bones, and we’re taking it easy for the time being to let it heal. Accidents and injuries are bound to happen, so we’re very thankful to have a retired paramedic and a registered nurse as our dock neighbors. Stay safe!

What we thought we would be doing for the Summer VS what we’re actually doing.

After we took Penny Rue out for the day to make sure all of our systems were running well, we discovered our transducer, which gives us depth readings, isn’t working and it’s a more complicated fix than we anticipated. Such is , but part of being a is just going with the flow, so we’ve decided to stay at the marina until the Fall and this will give us an opportunity to fix some other things as well.

Spring is here and now that our electric/solar project is done, our last before we leave to go north for the Summer is to finally finish our bowsprit. It’s a rinse and repeat cycle of sanding, fairing, and dry fitting, and we cannot wait for this project to be done. In the meantime, we get rewarded with homemade chicken tinga tostadas.

We got to meet Tim Crockett at the marina. He and his son, Harrison, plan to be the first father-son duo to row 2400nm across the Pacific from California to Hawaii in a 24ft boat this summer. They’re doing this to raise awareness and money for charities of mental health, PTSD, and TBI for veterans of the of the US and UK.

We were able to get a quick tour of their boat and it’s fascinating to see all the same equipment we have on our boat - navigation, AIS, EPIRB, solar, water maker, etc, but on a smaller scale. Be sure to follow their journey!

We’re always learning something new on the boat! All our batteries, smart shunts, inverter, cerbo, dc-to-dc and solar charger controllers have been installed, and we’ll be working on a frame to house our solar panels this week. Thank you to Michael Woodring, our , for getting us this far.
