Federal authorities have arrested 30-year-old Brian Cole of Woodbridge, Virginia in connection with the pipe bombs placed outside the DNC and RNC headquarters on Jan. 5, 2021 — the night before the Capitol attack.

Investigators say Cole is believed to be the individual seen in surveillance footage planting both devices.

The bombs were real and capable of causing harm but did not detonate.

FBI officials have not yet released his motive or the full list of charges, but confirm he is now in federal custody after nearly five years of investigation involving video analysis, cell data, and tracing bomb components.
