Congratulations to Brian McEwan and Barbara Conley after winning Seaton Carew Golf Club championship.

It was some triumph for Brian, who only joined Seaton from a parklands course less than three years ago.

All those years playing links as a kid on the west coast of Scotland certainly paid off!

What a privilege it was to be at Royal Portrush over the weekend for the 153rd The Open.

Of all the open venues, and a relative newcomer to the circuit, no wonder the likes of Rory McIlroy are purring over it.

And this was the first one I could actually enjoy without writing about it, alongside some brilliant people.

Just a shame there wasn’t to be any sporting drama with Scottie Scheffler around!

Walk into the Light was created in 2020 by Alisdair Beveridge, managing director of local home improvement service The Build Directory and a trustee of The Teesside Charity, and his sister Hannah.

Since then, more than £100,000 has been raised by everyone who has taken part, from famous names, to business leaders and local friends, highlighted by the most recent walk.

Northern League hosted at Grayfields with an attendance of 1516! That’s more than some clubs leagues above.

Wouldn’t it be fantastic to see nights like this have a lasting impact in the town too?
