Since launching in 2010, the Hollywood Fringe Festival has served as a proving ground for some of Los Angeles’s most daring live performances, and few corners of the festival have evolved as dramatically as clowning. What was once a niche discipline has grown into one of its most vibrant and inventive features.

We’re not talking about bonk-on-the-head, flower-squirt-in-the-eye Ronald McDonald clowning here — contemporary clown shows blend physical comedy, improvisation, audience interaction and experimental theater, creating performances that can be hilarious, uncomfortable, moving and unpredictable all at once.

Running now through June 28, Hollywood Fringe is a great place to check out some of clown's biggest names, and some up-and-comers just before they become big-time.

70,492 fans watched the United States dominate Paraguay 4-1 in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup at SoFi Stadium today, June 12.

Commentators described it as the best U.S. performance in a half after scoring three goals in the first 45 minutes. The first U.S. goal came from Paraguay midfielder Damián Bobadilla, who scored an own goal, followed by two by U.S. forward Folarin Balogun.

U.S. midfielder Giovanni Reyna scored a golazo in the 98th minute following a 20-pass full team play, putting a 4 on the scoreboard, the most goals the U.S. has ever scored in a World Cup game. The U.S. showed off their attacking prowess, playmaking and teamwork, maintaining 65% possession throughout the match.

Fans across the Southland rooted the U.S. on, including at the Fan Fest at the Coliseum.

The game featured the U.S. opening ceremony headlined by Katy Perry and Future, with additional performances by Anitta, LISA, Rema and Tyla.

Mexico, one of the three North American World Cup 2026 hosts along with U.S. and Canada, netted a 2-0 win against South Africa in the opening match today, June 11, in Mexico City.

Fans across the Southland celebrated he win at watch parties including at Plaza Mexico and the Coliseum.

Mexico has been in the opening match of the FIFA World Cup eight times, a record, including the first World Cup in 1930, but today was the first time they won. The match featured three red cards, two for South Africa, one for Mexico, also a record for an opening match.

The opening ceremony featured performances by Shakira, Burna Boy and a number of others including J Balvin, Ejae and Tyla.

Adapt or die. With season three of AMC's “Interview with the Vampire” re-titled “The Vampire Lestat,” the perspective shifts from Louis de Pointe du Lac to the self-aggrandizing, life-of-the-party Lestat de Lioncourt as he taps into his musical prowess and ascends from immortal being to full-on, frilled-out rock star.

Costume department head Lex Wood spearheaded Lestat’s look for the new season. Inspired by Anne Rice’s description of Lestat “trying on new glittering dream skins,” Wood and the creative team embraced a much more vivid world, with a focus on color, glam, punk, and rock influences.

“We wanted to avoid too much of the trope of having vampires always in black,” says Wood.

From leather pants and baby blue eyeshadow to a raven-black cashmere cape and chunky boots emblazoned with “Hate Me,” every look reflects Lestat’s musical freedom and transformation.
