For me, there is a direct connection between domesticity and my psychic abilities and spiritual gifts. I think it’s all in the grounding rituals of my daily round. The quiet aloneness, the wonders and awe of nature in the garden...or perhaps it’s a connection to my ancestors. This morning, I made homemade biscuits from scratch for the first time ever. At the age of 50.
I felt close to my grandmother and great-grandmother on my dad’s side, even though I got the recipe from TikTok. How I wish I would've paid more attention in my youth. Tony said the biscuits were perfect, and he, being the southern gentleman that he is, would definitely know. Plus, he's too kind to tell me otherwise.
I went to the garden and harvested two cantaloupes, and immediately thought of my father. I grow the variety from the seeds he gave me years ago…Israeli melons. He could carry more melons walking through a field with his bare hands and long arms…(my kids can attest to this phenomenon).
I also harvested our first yellow meat watermelon which made me think of my maternal grandparents, who imprinted my childhood with the watermelons they grew on their land at Northfield, and sold out of their front yard in Floydada, TX.
In all of these little snippets of homemaking and reminiscing, I see and feel God. I hear my guides and feel the nudges from the Divine. It's where I'm most myself... and it's a nice place to be.
What are the callings of your heart? Where do you see and hear God most in your daily life? I'd love to know.
