Green Point Creative Creative Agency. End Prohibition Now

Our nation’s drug war is leading us to lock up more people than ever. Those charged with a non violent drug crime face fines and incarceration. More people are arrested for drugs than for rape, murder and robbery combined. And minorities are being railroaded into this system at much higher rates than their white counterparts even though drug use between both groups is about the same. At Green Point Creative we believe our nation’s drug policy needs a serious reevaluation, so we are using our skills in strategy, creativity and world class production to generate content that seeks to educate and inspire change. Whether through print, TV, radio or social media, we employ every medium to best suit the message that needs to be told. If you have a topic you are passionate about or a story to tell, contact us at Green Point Creative.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently outlined his 2019 agenda, which included a push to legalize recreational marijuana and a call to address injustices that have impacted communities of color.

“The fact is we have had two criminal justice systems: one for the wealthy and the well off, and one for everyone else,” said Cuomo.

RAW Dashcam/Bodycam Footage: Des Moines Police Accused of Racial Profiling After Traffic Stop

This stop exemplifies every reason we started Green Point.

"Members of an Iowa nonprofit organization are accusing two Des Moines police officers of racially profiling for a July traffic stop and the local activist group says its a symptom of a bigger problem in the department. Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement released dash camera and body camera video showing officers Kyle Thies and Natalie Heinemann pulling over Montray Little, 23, and Jared Clinton, 21, despite video showing no obvious traffic violations. Little and his passenger, Jared Clinton, are accused of having drugs in the car and acting like they have a weapon as well. Little is handcuffed and Clinton is taken out of the car while they and the vehicle are searched. No drugs or weapons were found. Police did find an open bottle of alcohol which they had the men dump out. According to records obtained by Iowa CCI, Officer Thies booked suspects on 282 charges into the Polk County Jail in 2017. All of them were African-Americans. The Des Moines Police Department is disputing those figures."

Marijuana legalization lets police solve real crimes

This is a positive development from legalization and one that has been advanced for many years by those who study crime and police resources. All we can say is...finally!

“Our models show no negative effects of legalization and, instead, indicate that crime clearance rates for at least some types of crime are increasing faster in states that legalized than in those that did not,” the authors wrote in a study published in the journal Police Quarterly.

A new study shows that legalization has “produced some demonstrable and persistent benefit” to police departments in Washington and Colorado.
