And just like that, the most perfect, silly, stubborn and sweet baby is O N E 🥹

I could write a novel about how beautiful this first year of parenthood and watching him grow has been, but I’ll try to keep it short. Every day is a pinch me moment that I get to wake up and be his mom. He completes our little family in the most joyous ways, and has the cutest toothy smile I’ve ever seen. I’m forever grateful life worked out this way. Happy birthday buddy, I can’t wait for all that’s to come 🎂

A much needed week away with our little family 🌊
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s a really cool experience visiting the same place in different seasons of life. The first time we went to the Outer Banks, we were juniors in college and not even engaged yet. The next time was a few years later and we took Boomer for his first big vacation. Then in 2020 while living in NC we traveled with both dogs in tow right before we got married. Fast forward to this week that we got to share with the same two pups and our double rainbow baby, almost 6 years into marriage. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A little Salt Lake City recap! ⛰️🥤

We decided wherever we were able to get tickets to Hillary Duff would be the location of our girls’ trip and it took us to SLC. I loveeee visiting the Western states and Utah was one I hadn’t been to yet. I’m really surprised that it’s not mentioned more as a fun trip destination because we loved it and would gladly return! Here are some things about the trip that stuck out and I’d highly recommend:

Must eat/ drink:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Eva’s Bakery was my favorite food stop on our trip. We went for brunch and had the best quiche I’ve ever tasted, amazing stuffed French toast, bakery items (get the cinnamon roll) and delicious coffees (I got the Au Miel which has honey and cinnamon and highly recommend!)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Swig is a staple for a reason, and a must try if in the area. We got the Founder which is Coke, lime, coconut cream and syrup and it was so good! Definitely going to start making these at home
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Bricks Corner has amazing pan pizza (& cheese wedges). We got it to go and watched the sunset at Great Salt Lake State Park
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- The Bayou was a good stop for a quick dinner with a good beer list and Cajun menu.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Modern American Diner • SLC was a great breakfast spot with a great breakfast spread! Enjoyed a pumpkin spice latte (love when places have them year round!) and the build your own breakfast
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- one rec I saw mentioned a lot and was close to where we stayed was The Park Cafe. We stopped here after landing for a quick bite and I will say the staff were AMAZING. However, I personally don’t understand the hype food wise. I’d pass on it.

Must do:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- go to a concert at Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre. The views were incredible (and so was Hillary Duff 🥹)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- go hiking! The mountains are beautiful and one hike is a must, even if it’s short. We had a rental so we drove out to Donut Falls and had such a good time. Decent shade and not too bad of a hike (a decent amount of elevation gain so just k

Hi! Em for short, Emily for long. It’s crazy to think I’ve been posting on this account for 6 years now!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It started out as a way for me to share all the dog pictures taking up my camera roll. And don’t worry—the dogs aren’t going anywhere! They are very much the main characters in our story still and although I’m biased, I think they’re the cutest. But life has changed and continues to evolve as we entered our 30s, and the type of content that sparks joy and creativity has changed too. I’m really excited to share more of life and how we’re embracing this season.

These are the type of days I try to soak in because I know I’ll look back and be homesick for them 🥹
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lately I’ve been mad at myself for the lack of documenting these moments. Parenthood is beautiful but it’s also exhausting and sometimes all consuming. I wasn’t quite prepared for the mental load shift it brings and a lot of days feels like survival. I’m guilty of putting all these pressures on myself that are really nonexistent, they’re just something I expect of me. Social media is included in that—and I think it’s a pressure because I genuinely enjoy it. It makes me feel creative and it’s something I do for me, which I definitely need these days.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I am committing to showing up on this account again! And forcing myself to lower the pressures of it being perfect or always aesthetic, and sharing more of the real instead. I’m excited to share more of life with you guys again, and to show up for myself and my creativity! You’ll notice over the next few weeks that it will look quite different—but I hope you’ll stay as we morph into this new season of posting where we embrace where we are 🫶🏻 excited to be back!
