"Doomsday" by Architects turns nine today. The single was released on 7 September 2017 through Epitaph Records.

It was produced by the band together with Jordan Fish and entered the UK Rock and Metal Singles Chart at number 17, according to the Official Charts Company. In September 2017 it stood on its own as a single, with no album attached to it yet, and it was placed later on "Holy Hell", which came through the same label.

Nothing tied to the anniversary has been announced by the band or by Epitaph, and no reissue of the single has been listed. Nine years on, whether "Doomsday" belongs to the 2017 single or to the album that took it in is still argued.

The Amity Affliction released "Chasing Ghosts" on 7 September 2012, and the album turns 14 today. It was their third full length and their first number one in Australia, later certified gold.

Michael Baskette produced it, and UNFD and Roadrunner issued it on CD, LP and digital, moving the band off Boomtown, the label behind "Severed Ties" in 2008 and "Youngbloods" in 2010. Three singles came out of it: "Chasing Ghosts", "Open Letter" and "Born to Die".

Two years later "Let the Ocean Take Me" arrived on the same labels, and the run through "This Could Be Heartbreak" and "Misery" followed. No anniversary edition or reissue has been announced. Fourteen years on, the argument over which of the two records defines the band has not been settled.

All Shall Perish have released "Be As Kings, Be As Gods", their first new song in fifteen years, and opened a crowdfunding campaign to pay for a full comeback album.

Zack Ohren, whose credits include Machine Head and Fallujah, produced the track. It arrives through Arson Theory, the music company co founded by vocalist Hernan "Eddie" Hermida. The Northern California band last issued a full length in 2011 with "This Is Where It Ends" on Nuclear Blast.

The campaign is running now and the album remains unscheduled. No title, no tracklist and no confirmed lineup for the record have been made public. The argument over which album defines them, "The Price of Existence" or "Awaken the Dreamers", has had fifteen years to settle and has not.

System Of A Down are marking 25 years of "Toxicity" with an anniversary vinyl edition pressed on amber, released alongside the first official streaming version of the rarity "Johnny".

"Toxicity" arrived in 2001 through American Recordings and Columbia, produced by Rick Rubin with Serj Tankian, Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian and John Dolmayan, and it entered the Billboard 200 at number one. It followed the 1998 debut "System Of A Down". "Johnny" circulated among fans for years on burned discs and fan sites, without an official digital release until now.

An exclusive variant with a bonus seven inch is being sold through the Revolver shop. No further formats or extra bonus material have been confirmed. The band has not said whether another Toxicity era recording follows "Johnny" onto streaming.

"Spirit of Sacrifice", the Terror single released on September 6, 2018, turns eight today. It came out through Pure Noise Records with Will Putney handling production, and it belongs to the album "Total Retaliation".

In 2018 the song reached listeners as a stream rather than on a burned CD passed around after school, with Putney at the board and Pure Noise issuing it from a roster built on hardcore and punk. The single opened the run toward the album "Total Retaliation", which carried the same production credit.

Eight years on, the song still sits on that record and on the Pure Noise catalogue. Terror has not announced anything tied to the date. The argument over which Terror record defines them runs on without a verdict.

Thrice released "Major/Minor" on 6 September 2011. Fifteen years on, it stands as album number eight in the discography, issued through Vagrant Records.

Dave Schiffman produced the record, which shipped on CD, LP and digital with "Promises" as its single. It arrived two years after "Beggars", the 2009 album that opened the Vagrant chapter following the Island years of "The Artist in the Ambulance" in 2003 and "Vheissu" in 2005.

The next album, "To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere", did not arrive until 2016, again on Vagrant. Five years separate the two records in the catalogue. Which album defines the band is still an argument that runs between "The Artist in the Ambulance" and "Vheissu".

Winston McCall, vocalist of Parkway Drive, turns 44 today. Born on 6 September 1982 in Australia, he has fronted the Byron Bay band across its entire run of releases.

The record that carried his name out of the country was "Killing With A Smile", released through Epitaph Records in 2005, when songs travelled on MySpace pages set to autoplay and on burned CDs passed around after school. "Horizons" followed in 2007 and moved the band onto larger stages outside Australia.

No new release, run of dates or studio plan has been attached to the date. Fans are still split over whether "Killing With A Smile" or "Horizons" is the record that defines the band.

Brad Wilk turns 58 today. The American drummer was born on 5 September 1968 and was a founding member of Rage Against the Machine in 1991.

Wilk sat behind the kit from the first day of that lineup in 1991, when Headbangers Ball still ran late on Saturday nights and a new band travelled on a cassette passed over after school. He later took the same seat in Audioslave, and years after that in Prophets of Rage.

No record, tour or studio session involving Wilk has been announced for this year, and none of the three bands has confirmed activity around the date. Whether the work that defines him sits with the band founded in 1991 or with Audioslave is an argument the scene has never closed.

The track came from "Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water", the album the band delivered that same year on the same label. In 2000 a song like that moved on a CD single in the rack and on copies burned and passed around after school. The previous Limp Bizkit album was "Significant Other", from 1999.

No reissue or anniversary edition has been announced for the date. Which record defines the band, "Significant Other" or "Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water", is an argument the scene has never closed.

"Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle)" turns 26 today. Limp Bizkit released the single on September 5, 2000, through Flip and Elektra, taken from "Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water", with Terry Date credited as producer.

In the autumn of 2000 the song travelled the way songs travelled then, on burned CDs passed around after school and in late Saturday rotation on Headbangers Ball. Date handled the record for the Flip and Elektra partnership that carried the band at the time.

No anniversary edition, reissue or vinyl pressing has been announced for the single or the album. The argument over whether "Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water" or "Significant Other" is the record that defines Limp Bizkit is still running.
