** WANTED - ESCAPED FORMER POLICE CHIEF **
(CALICO ROCK, Ark.) -- According to an Arkansas State Police press release, Grant Hardin, 56, a former police chief in Gateway, escaped from the facility at approximately 3:40 p.m.

He is a 6 ft, 250 lb, Caucasian male who had been incarcerated in the North Central Unit since 2017, serving a 30-year sentence for first-degree murder and an additional sentence for r**e, according to the release.

In 2019, Hardin pleaded guilty to two counts of r**e in connection with the 1997 r**e of a Rogers elementary school teacher, according to previous reports from the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
