Here's another interesting method (actually, 3) of creating patterns: starting on one post-it note (or any regular piece of paper), and trace everything on each piece onto all the others. Time-consuming! Next one is Procreate, where I drew on an original square, then copied and multiplied into a 2nd file that was twice the size. Third version is the new pattern-maker in Illustrator, which just does the copying work for you. Great to preview how it will look on a bolt of fabric or a roll of wallpaper!

Digital vs. analog! I've been taking 's class, and for the 2nd project, it occurred to me that I wanted to paint it and see how that worked! So I painted it, scanned it, then printed both the watercolor painting, and the watercolor drawing I did directly in Procreate. Fun to compare! I prefer the Procreate one, but the watercolor has potential too. Which do you like best?

Oh my gosh, I'm getting so fancy with my reels and all *snort* BUT I am happy I've finally updated my Spoonflower fabric shop with some of my best creations from this year. Hurray! And here's to 2026--may it be more humane, more sane, and super-creative.
