Two NDPS Fugitives Nabbed in Kulgam After 20 Years of Evasion

Kulgam, Oct 17 (KNC): In a major breakthrough, Kulgam Police arrested two drug offenders who had been absconding for nearly two decades in separate NDPS Act cases registered at Police Station Qazigund.

In a statement issued here to news agency Kashmir News Corner --- KNC reads that the arrested persons have been identified as, Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gh. Qadir Sheikh, resident of Nassu Badrahgund, who was wanted in FIR No. 107/2005 under Sections 15/18 NDPS Act of Police Station Qazigund. The accused was arrested from near J&K Bank Qazigund after evading arrest for about 20 years.

Another person namely, Bilal Ahmad Ganie, son of Gh. Nabi Ganie, resident of Lalen Ganoor Kulgam, presently residing at Levdora near Railway Bridge Qazigund, who was wanted in FIR No. 223/2006 under Sections 15/18 NDPS Act of Police Station Qazigund. The accused was absconding for around 19 years, statement reads.

Both the accused were evading arrest since long and have now been taken into custody. Their arrest reflects the sustained efforts of Kulgam Police in tracking down long-term absconders involved in NDPS-related offences, it reads.

SSP Kulgam, Anayat Choudhary (IPS), while appreciating the teams said that Kulgam Police is committed to bringing all offenders, especially those involved in drug trafficking, to justice. The action against absconders will continue to ensure that no one evades the law, reads the statement. (KNC)

“YOU CAN'T HIDE”, GANDERBAL POLICE TRACED AND ARRESTED (08) ABSCONDERS WHO WERE EVADING ARREST FOR MORE THAN 02 DECADES.

In a major success against fugitives evading arrest for decades, Ganderbal Police have apprehended (08) absconders who were wanted in connection with criminal cases and had been evading arrest since from years.

The arrested absconders have been identified as:
1. Alam Din Khatana S/o Allah-u-Din Khatana R/o Anderwan Lar, involved in FIR No. 187/1995 U/S 7/25 I.A. Act.

2. Nazir Ahmad Takad S/o Hashim Din Takad (Gojar) R/o Wangath Kangan involved in FIR No. 84/1990 U/S 451, 366 RPC.

3. Mohd Lateef Takad S/o Mohd Hashim Din Takad (Gojar) R/o Wangath Kangan, involved in FIR No. 84/1990 U/S 451, 366 RPC.

4. Mohd Shareef Khatana S/O Abdul Aziz Khatana R/O Wangath, Kangan.
(Involved in Case FIR NO. 84/1990 U/S 451,366 RPC of P/S Kangan).

5. Mohd Yaqoob Takad S/O Asham Din Takad R/O Wangath, Kangan.
(Involved in case FIR NO. 84/1990 U/S 451,366 RPC of P/S Kangan).

6. Mohd Amin Takad S/O Hashim Din Takad R/o Machkani Wangath.
(Involved in Case FIR NO. 84/1990 U/S 451,366 RPC of P/S Kangan).

7.Mohammad Qasim Khatana S/O Abdul Aziz Khatana R/o Machkani Wangath.
(Involved in case FIR NO. 84/1990 U/S 451,366 RPC of P/S Kangan).

8.Showket Ahmad Bhat S/o Abdul Ahad Bhat R/o Urpash Ganderbal.
(involved in case FIR No. 21/2015 U/S 379 RPC of P/S Kangan).

These individuals had been absconding for decades and were finally traced and apprehended by Ganderbal Police after persistent efforts and technical surveillance. All 08 accused persons were produced before the Hon’ble Court of JMIC Ganderbal for further legal proceedings.

The successful arrest of these long-absconding accused persons reflects the firm commitment of Ganderbal Police to bring offenders to justice, irrespective of the passage of time, and to ensure the rule of law prevails in the district.

Srinagar Police Nab Trio Involved in Qamarwari Axe Attack

Srinagar, Oct 15, KNT: Srinagar Police have arrested three accused involved in the Qamarwari axe attack case during a series of overnight raids, bringing swift resolution to an incident that left one youth injured on yesternight.

Police said the victim, identified as Noman Yaqoob Khanday, was attacked with an axe by unidentified persons in the Qamarwari area on Tuesday evening. Following the assault, police launched a comprehensive investigation and tracked down the culprits through technical and field surveillance.

The accused have been identified as Sahil Yaqoob Grustoo, son of Mohammad Yaqoob Grustoo; Farooq alias Farhan Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Nabi Dar; and Bilal Ahmad Guroo, son of Zahoor Ahmad Guroo, all residents of Boatman Colony, Bemina.

According to police, the weapon of offence used in the attack has been recovered from the possession of the accused. The trio were apprehended in coordinated overnight operations carried out by multiple police teams.

Officials said that legal proceedings have been initiated under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the attack.

Police commended the swift response of the investigating teams and reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order in the city. Authorities have urged the public to cooperate in ensuring peace and promptly report any criminal activity.

: At least 20 people are feared dead, and some others sustained critical burn injuries when a private bus caught fire near the Thaiyat area on the Jodhpur Highway. The injured were rushed to Jodhpur Medical College.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed deep sorrow and cancelled all engagements to visit the site. He directed officials to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured.

ColdRif Syrup, RespiFresh-TR, Relif Syrup marked ‘not of standard quality’

Srinagar, Oct 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Drug and Food Control Organisation (DFCO) has imposed a ban on the sale, distribution, and use of three cough syrup brands, including ColdRif Syrup, RespiFresh-TR and Relif Syrup, after laboratory tests declared them “Not of Standard Quality” due to the presence of toxic impurities.

The alert was issued following a communication from the Central Drugs Standard Control Program under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GoI, which found three contained Diethylene Glycol (DEG) impurities beyond permissible limits, a compound known to cause severe poisoning and linked to child deaths in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

As per the public notice issued by Office of State Drugs Controller, the affected formulations include Relif Syrup (Ambroxol HCl, Terbutaline Sulphate, Guaiphenesin & Menthol) manufactured by M/s Shape Pharma Pvt Ltd, Gujara
