MIDSTATE SOCCER CLUB HOSTS RECORD NUMBER OF TEAMS

DECATUR, IL- The Decatur Park District is pleased to announce the return of the MidState Cup, sponsored by ADM. This prestigious tournament is scheduled to take place from May 30 to June 1 at the Decatur Soccer Complex and features a record number of participating teams.
The upcoming event will host over 150+ U8 to U19 boys' and girls' club teams from Illinois and neighboring states, all set to compete in an exciting display of talent and skill. Colin Bonner, the Director of MidState Soccer Club, expressed excitement about the opportunity for coaches and players to showcase their abilities at the Decatur Soccer Complex. Additionally, Bonner highlighted the significance of the event for the families of the athletes, who will have the chance to support their young athletes while enjoying the local competition.
Admission to the tournament is free, and the detailed schedules and additional information will soon be available on midstatesoccer.com and the MidState Soccer Club page.

While we’re waiting for the new issue to be printed, take some time to read Robbie McGrath’s new blog. A respected restaurant entrepreneur, barman and “hash slinger” in Decatur who influenced service and menus for decades, Robbie wrote many insightful travel columns for Decatur Magazine, including this one in 2002. He settled in Seattle and has been named Best Bartender during his time behind the bar at Matt’s in the Market. No surprise that his Bloody Mary and snit are a huge hit in the Northwest. Kudos to our favorite travel writer!
