The International University of Management (IUM) and Meerkat Learning, a civil society non-profit, have formalized a groundbreaking partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. This collaboration will integrate the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) methodology into IUM’s pre-service teacher education programmes, specifically focusing on primary education.

The partnership aims to equip future Namibian primary school teachers with essential skills to assess and support learners effectively, directly supporting national efforts to end learning poverty. The ceremony was held today, Thursday, 11 December 2025, at the IUM Dorado Main Campus in Windhoek.

This initiative underscores IUM’s commitment to quality education and aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals on quality education and global partnerships.

JUST IN: The Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture has unveiled the rollout plan for free tertiary education starting in 2026, confirming that the government will cover registration and tuition fees for first-time qualification seekers. The funding applies to undergraduate and honours programmes from NQF Levels 5 to 8, including vocational, TVET and bridging courses required to qualify for a first qualification. This support extends beyond public tertiary institutions to include private institutions that meet the current minimum requirements. Students may also apply for non-tuition fees from NSFAF of N$17 000, although the parental income threshold has been reduced from N$500 000 to N$100 000 combined household income.
