ALLEGED BOMB THREAT AT DIVINE WORD COLLEGE OF LEGAZPI DECLARED CLEARED
An alleged bomb threat prompted an immediate security response at Divine Word College of Legazpi (DWCL), Freinademetz Campus after the school received a threatening message through its official page on July 19, 2026.
According to initial reports, at around 6:15 PM, the school received a threatening message warning of an alleged explosion targeting its Senior High School and Junior High School buildings. The incident was reported to the Legazpi City Police Station at 11:05 AM today July 20, 2026, prompting the immediate implementation of security and emergency response protocols.
Upon receipt of the report, the Legazpi City Police Station, in coordination with the Albay Provincial Explosives and Canine Unit (PECU), immediately conducted security assessment, paneling, and bomb clearing operations across the campus. Simultaneously, the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 5 (RACU5) launched a cyber investigation to trace the origin of the threatening message and identify the individual responsible.
Following a thorough inspection, at about 1:15PM the clearing teams declared the Divine Word College of Legazpi campus safe and clear of any explosive device.
Coordination with the ACG is ongoing for the result of the cyber investigation to aid in the identification of the suspect and the filing of appropriate charges. The Legazpi City Police Station assures the public that all bomb threats are treated with utmost urgency and professionalism to ensure the safety and security of educational institutions and the public.
